My journal

Things I’m Learning Now

Not answers. Just what I notice when I give myself room to be honest.

Harrise writing at the kitchen table
From the family archive.

Experience has not made me certain. It has made me more willing to look closely and say when I do not know.

In my own words

I am not writing rules for anybody else. These are thoughts from an ordinary, complicated life: what care has meant to me, what love has asked of me, what I wish I had known, and what I may still change. I hope we can recognize something of ourselves in one another without pretending our lives are the same.

What I’m exploring

Notes from a life
01

What makes a home feel cared for

The atmosphere I create through small, repeated acts.

02

Cooking without overcomplicating it

Why I trust attention more than performance.

03

The honesty of animals

What their presence returns me to.

04

Beauty at seventy

What has changed, what still matters, and what is mine to decide.

05

Loyalty and remembering myself

Questions of devotion, trust, and self-respect that resist easy answers.

06

The solitude that is part of me

Being to myself is not something I need to correct.

07

What family photographs cannot hold

The visible moment, and the life beyond its frame.

A letter, occasionally

Notes from me

What I am noticing, making, questioning, and learning. I will write when there is something honest to share.
